Accessibility statement
DeckAlong should be usable by everyone, including people who cannot see a screen. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA for the listener view, the presenter view, the editor and these pages.
What listeners can do
- Choose text size in five steps from 100% to 200%. Slides reflow instead of using a fixed canvas.
- Choose a light, dark or high contrast theme, or follow the device setting.
- Switch to Atkinson Hyperlegible, a font designed for readability, and choose relaxed line spacing and width.
- Use the whole page with a keyboard: arrow keys for previous and next, F to follow the presenter, N for notes and S for settings.
- Use buttons as well as swipe gestures. Buttons are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Hear slide changes announced by a screen reader while following, and turn the announcements off. While paused, nothing is announced except the label of the "Jump to presenter" button.
- Rely on text and icons together: nothing is communicated by colour alone.
Known limits
The service has not yet been formally audited, and testing with VoiceOver, TalkBack and NVDA is still to be completed. Images in slides have alt text written by the presenter, so their quality depends on the presenter.
