Terms of use
These terms apply when you use DeckAlong. We have tried to keep them short and readable. How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.
Following a presentation
Anyone with a join code can follow a presentation. Listeners are anonymous and cannot add content.
Your account
- You need an account to present. Give us a real e-mail address and keep your password and passkeys safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, and at least 16 years old.
- Tell us if you think someone else has got into your account.
Your content stays yours
- You own the decks, text and images you create. We do not claim any rights to them.
- You give us permission to store your content and show it to the people you share a join code with. We need this only to run the service, and it ends when you delete the content.
- You are responsible for your content and for having the right to use it, including images and text made by others.
- Anyone you give the join code to can read the slides and handout notes of a session while it is available. Do not put secrets in slides or handout notes. Private speaker notes are only shown to you.
What you may not do
- Share unlawful content or content that infringes other people's rights.
- Harass others, or use the service to deceive or harm people, for example by phishing or spreading malware.
- Try to break, overload or get around the security of the service, or use it in ways that harm other users.
The service
We work to keep the service available, but we provide it as it is, without guarantees. It may be down at times, and we may change features. Keep your own copy of anything important: you can download all your data from your account settings.
Closing your account
- You can delete your account at any time in your settings. Your data is then deleted as described in the privacy policy.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms. If you seriously or repeatedly break them, we may suspend or close your account. Unless it is urgent or the law says otherwise, we tell you why first and give you a chance to respond.
- If we decide to stop the service, we will give presenters notice by e-mail and time to download their data.
Our responsibility
The service is free of charge to use as described here. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, missed presentations or other indirect losses. This does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, and it does not take away any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell signed-in presenters by e-mail at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If we cannot sort out a disagreement together, it is settled by the Norwegian courts. As a consumer in another EU/EEA country you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
